PANZ BOOK DESIGN AWARDS 2013

PANZ BOOK DESIGN AWARDS
ANNOUNCED FOR 2013
PANZ (The Publishers Association New Zealand) have just announced the award winners for 2013
In the children’s section the winner of the Scholastic New Zealand Award for the best children’s book goes to Melu designed by Ali Teo and John O’Reilly, written by Kyle Mewburn and published by Scholastic, 2012.
This book was awarded the Children’s Choice in last month’s New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards

Big congratulations to Ali, John and Kyle – that’s exciting news.

The PANZ judges said this in their comment about the title:
From start to finish, this book exudes a quiet confidence indicative of designers in full command of their craft. As reviewers have pointed out, Melu contains a lot of words for a picture book, but nowhere does it look cluttered. Good taste, a sure touch and a fine sense of balance rule throughout.
